| Baptism/Confirmation | Adults and children 7 or older who would like to receive these sacraments or be received into the Church should email RCIA@brightoncatholic.org or call the rectory. Click on this link for more details: Baptism/Confirmation.
| Marriage
| Couples planning marriage should make arrangements SIX MONTHS prior to wedding date. Click on Marriage for more details. | Mass Intentions
| The Mass is the greatest prayer the Church can offer for any person or special request. The usual donation to the priest to have a Mass offered for a particular purpose is $10. Arrangements are ordinarily made through the office, and are published in the bulletin and here. Usually the Mass is celebrated only for one "intention," but once a week, a Mass is celebrated for multiple intentions. | | Funerals | We encourage those who have lost a loved one to contact a priest, just to talk about their loss. Most of the actual arrangements for the vigil for the deceased (wake), funeral, and committal of the body are best done through the funeral home, but we would be happy to offer advice on the options available. For the guidelines for funerals in the Archdiocese of Boston, see here. For guidelines regarding cremations in particular, see here. | Anointing of the Sick
| People who are sick or infirm, as well as those who are close to death, can receive the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Please contact the office as soon as the person becomes sick. All Christians are entitled to the ministry of the Church at the time of death, so do not hesitate to contact us about Anointing of the sick, final prayers for the dying, Confession, viaticum, or funerals. | | Vocations | Archdiocesan Vocations Office: Called to Serve: Vocations and the Church St. John's Seminary http://www.sjs.edu Blessed John XXIII Seminary http://www.blessedjohnxxiii.edu/ | | Confessions | The Sacrament of Confession is celebrated weekly starting at 3:00 PM on Saturdays. During Lent and Advent, it is also celebrated on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00, as part of the Archdiocesan initiative The Light is On for You. In addition, any priest can be approached at any convenient time to ask for Confession. If you would like help to prepare for the sacrament, some resources are here and here. Canon Law requires that every Catholic confess his mortal sins at least once a year. Those who are in a state of mortal sin cannot receive Communion until they have made a complete Confession and received absolution. |
